SR 164 & SR 410 – Fish Passages

Project overview

As part of WSDOT’s fish passage program, we will remove two culverts at State Route 164 and two culverts at SR 410 that do not allow fish to pass and replace the culverts with fish-passable structures. Two culverts will be replaced west of Enumclaw along Seconds Creek and an Unnamed Tributary to Newaukum Creek at SR 164. Two culverts will be replaced just south of Enumclaw along an Unnamed Tributary to Boise Creek at SR 410. The new structures have the potential to open more than three miles of habitat for chum, coho, steelhead, sea-run cutthroat and resident trout.

What to expect

WSDOT will select a qualified design-build contractor to complete the design of the fish passable structures on SR 164 and SR 410. Although there is no funding for construction at this time, we are proceeding with the design phase of this project. Travelers should not expect to see construction in the area during this design phase. Highway closure needs will be determined by the type of structures and the construction method proposed by the contractor.

On all sites, culverts cross under a two-lane highway. Crews will work on one half of the highway at a time. Travelers can expect two-lane bypasses in most locations at the SR 164 and SR 410 construction sites. Dates for traffic revisions have not been set.

This project will build fish-passable structures under SR 164 and SR 410 near Enumclaw.
