Express lanes

The I-5 Express Lanes help traffic flow during busy travel times. These lanes move in the direction that will relieve the most congestion and are on a typical daily schedule that changes on weekends and occasionally for major events.

I-5 Express Lanes schedule

Monday-Friday

• Southbound - 5 a.m. to 11 a.m.
• Northbound - 11:15 a.m. to 11 p.m.
• Closed: 11 p.m. - 5 a.m.

Saturday & Sunday

• Southbound - 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
• Northbound - 1:45 p.m. to 11 p.m.
• Closed: 11 p.m. - 8 a.m.

Special events schedule

Express lanes closing early Oct. 30

The I-5 Express Lanes will close early at 9 p.m. on Oct. 30 to facilitate construction happening in the lanes. They will resume their normal schedules each of the following morning.

Express lanes switch to southbound for weekend of Oct. 31-Nov. 3

The I-5 Express Lanes will switch from the northbound orientation to southbound at 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, to facilitate the upcoming lane reductions on southbound I-5 during the weekend. The express lanes will then stay southbound around the clock for the remainder of these weekends before returning to their normal schedules on Monday, Nov. 3. In addition:

• Saturday, Nov. 1: The two right express lanes will close from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 2.
• Sunday, Nov. 2: The two right express lanes will close from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 3.
