Project overview
This project will remove, replace, and rehabilitate existing guardrail along I-90 from MP 192 in Adams County to MP 272.60 in Spokane County to preserve function, ensure terminals are crashworthy and that the system meets standards.
What to expect
This project will adjust, raise, remove, replace, and rehabilitate approximately 20,000 lineal feet of guardrail along I-90 to meet current standards.
During construction, travelers can expect a reduced advisory speed approaching the work zone and single-lane or shoulder closures. Please remember to slow down in work zones and watch for road crews.
Project map location for the guardrail rehabilitation project on I-90 in Spokane, Adams and Lincoln counties.
There are over 300 guardrail crashes per year in WSDOT’s Eastern Region, which damage more than 2 percent of guardrail inventory. It is estimated that another 2 percent of guardrail damage is unreported and not captured by crash or third-party damage reports. Additionally, there are locations within the system that have obsolete or non-crashworthy components or are beyond the 40-year service life. The result is that approximately 7 to 9 percent of guardrail is assessed as being in poor condition each year.
