Project overview
Phase 3 is part of a 15-mile corridor improvement project to improve safety and reliability and reduce congestion along I-90 from Hyak to the Easton vicinity. We are increasing traffic capacity and improving safety by adding a new lane in each direction, replacing concrete pavement, stabilizing rock slopes, building wildlife crossings, improving sight distance and traffic safety and improving traffic management technology systems.
What to expect
Summer 2025
The contractor tells us only about two rock blasting closures are needed this year near Easton. The closures will be announced the Friday before on the WSDOT real time travel map, on X/Twitter, and Bluesky.
Eastbound traffic is shifted to the westbound side of I-90 between mileposts 68 and 70. This traffic shift maintains two lanes of traffic in both directions and will remain in place for the next several years as crews work to build new lanes.
Phases 3 and 4 of the I-90 Snoqualmie Pass East project widens I-90 from four to six lanes, stabilizes rock slopes, builds bridges, adds truck-climbing lanes, straightens curves and connects wildlife habitats.
