Project overview
The bridge deck of southbound State Route 167, just north of SR 516/Willis Street, in Kent was worn with areas of exposed rebar and concrete damage. This project repaired concrete and provided a new driving surface for the southbound bridge deck. Construction crews also replaced expansion joints to preserve the bridge and extend its service life.
What to expect
This project was completed in September 2023. Travelers should not expect any construction-related delays in the project area.
To preserve the life of the bridge on SR 167 over Interurban, work crews will have single and two-lane closures this summer while they resurface the area, repair expansion joints, and install striping and rumble strips.
The bridge has a concrete surface that has worn over time with exposed rebar and concrete damage with rutting and cracks. In addition, water can collect in these areas and become icy during freezing temperatures causing further damage to the road surface.
Crew will repair the bridge deck by removing select areas of damaged concrete and creating a new driving surface that will extend the service life of the bridge and provide a smoother ride for highway users.
