Project overview
The State Route 536 Skagit River Bridge received its last coat of paint in 1990. After 34 years, contractor crews will finally add fresh paint the bridge to preserve and extend its service life. In addition to painting, this project includes all the preparation work before painting, such as removing old paint, bird droppings and debris.
What to expect
Crews working for WSDOT will remove old paint and apply new paint to the SR 536 Skagit River Bridge. For the safety of workers and travelers, the eastbound lane of the bridge will be closed throughout the project.
The westbound lane will remain open. A temporary signal will be in place to allow emergency vehicles to cross the bridge in the eastbound direction when needed.
The SR 536 bridge over the Skagit River will be painted to preserve and extend its service life.
