Seattle/Bainbridge state ferry route closed to drive-on passengers Sept. 7-13
SEATTLE – Washington State Ferries’ overhead passenger walkway project on Bainbridge Island replaces the 50-year-old wooden walkway with a new seismically safe structure. Installing the large walkway spans requires a six-day closure of the entire vehicle holding area for passenger safety.

Speed reduction on I-5 in Kent/Des Moines area begins the week of May 1
KENT – A lower speed limit and traffic shift on Interstate 5 in Kent and Des Moines will enhance safety for both highway construction crews and people driving through a newly established work zone of the SR 509 Completion Project.

HOQUIAM – Work is scheduled to begin Monday, May 1 on a project that improves fish habitat in six streams under US 101 in Grays Harbor County.
Bridge construction brings overnight closures of westbound SR 16 at SR 302 near Gig Harbor April 28-29
GIG HARBOR – On April 28-29, all lanes of westbound State Route 16 will close near Gig Harbor overnight. All travelers will take the SR 302 exit and follow the SR 302 Spur detour through Purdy. Crews will deliver and place large girders on the new bridge over Purdy Creek.

Construction begins on new US 101 Elwha River Bridge near Port Angeles
PORT ANGELES – The mighty Elwha River will soon have a new bridge spanning its banks. Work began Monday, April 17, on a brand new bridge, which will carry US 101 across the river and keep communities connected.

Airports can submit their applications for the first round of 2023-2025 Airport Aid Program grants. The Washington State Department of Transportation Aviation Division anticipates awarding $2 million in funding.
Bridge closure on SR 169 at the Green River Bridge near Black Diamond extended
The State Route 169 Green River Dan Evans Bridge south of Black Diamond will remain closed beyond the anticipated Monday, April 17, reopening. Crews anticipate bridge may open by Friday, April 21.
